This is from a collection of recipes from books I own, but which I haven't myself tried yet. However, you can have faith that at least the authors themselves have tried them, so they're not deadly or anything.
Combine vodka and extract in clean 1-quart jar. Bring sugar and water to a boil together. When clear (pretty much the moment the boil starts rolling), set aside and let stand until just warm. Add sugar syrup, glycerin and food coloring (if desired). Let stand for 1 month. Yilds approximately a fifth.
